What We Do

We provide support and impartial advice to families with deaf and hearing impaired children in Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.

Throughout the year we also host larger events to give children the opportunity to try different activities. In the past we have had swimming events, bowling, ice skating, days out high ropes to soft play centres, theme parks and the cinema. Plus much more.........

A lot of parents/guardians are worried and in some cases isolated when they learn that their child is deaf or hearing impaired. Our volunteers are the parents of deaf children or work in hearing services. They are able to speak of their own experiences and give advice to parents/guardians.

We want to particularly encourage families of newly diagnosed children to come along to our youth club and events. We want families to feel confident that they can face the future and meet other families in the same situations. Our events are regularly advertised at hearing services in Sheffield children's hospital, Rotherham hospital and Rotherham walk in centre.

We also hold a youth club on the last Friday of each month for school age children which has a wide range of activities and we have welcomed visitors from local businesses who have come along to encourage our children to try and experience new things.

Visit our youth club page for more information......

We are only able to fund the activities and youth club for our families through grant applications and donations. We are extremely grateful to Sue Morris who is taking part in the Tough Mudder challenge in a bid to raise money for our charity.

If you would like to sponsor Sue you can use the button below. It is linked to paypal but you do not need to have a paypal account to use it. The committee at SDCS would like to especially thank Sue for doing this and we would also like to thank her sponsors. GOOD LUCK SUE!!
We have arranged a coach trip to Skegness. Full details are on the poster below. If you are interested in coming along get in touch ASAP as we have limited places left.
